As I sat in my class,

I observe my friends,

And look forward to the year,

Coming to an end.

It’s gonna be sad,

To say good-bye,

I’ll miss everyone,

I know I will cry.

I remember the day,

When I came back,

To be with my friends,

And get on the right track.

We had so many moments,

Some bad most great,

I’ll always remember the love,

And erase the hate.

I don’t wanna say good-bye,

To all my friends,

I don’t want this year,

To come to an end.

Teen

October 30th, 2005 by world-of-anime

We are teens,

Sometimes we’re mean,

Other times we’re keen

People don’t care what the hell we’ve been,

No wonder they don’t understand what we mean

We are teens,

They say we’re lazy,

And somewhat crazy,

Let us be,

You can’t tell us who to be,

Cos we’re used to being ‘we’

We are teens,

The troubles we didn’t make,

But still the blame we have to take,

Don’t accuse us being lying fakes,

Oh god! Just give us a break

We are teens,

We like to loved,

We like to be loved,

Flying high like turtledoves,

Either it’s true or just puppy loved.

We are teens,

We’re rebellios,

We’re nuts,

Delirious? That’s us,

We’re pain in the butt,

Be crazy, We must

We are teens,

It’s the times of our lives,

We can be shy or give it a try,

We know true friends are always nearby,

To give their shoulder, when we cry

True Story “I was a gangster at 14…”

October 30th, 2005 by world-of-anime

I always came home to an empty house. My parents ran a foodstall, and only returned late at night. My three older sisters were always out stressed from work, my mother would nag at me for the slighest possible reason.I was 14 when I went to my first disco,a popular Orchard Road haunt. My friends who got me into discos were gang members. I thought it was cool to join a gang and have many girlfriends.

Once we were roller-blading at an HDB basketball court when my friends got upset with a man and attacked him.I also picked up my roller-blades and trashed him. After the episode,we talked and laughed about it.I yearned so much to be part of them.In fact, I was happier with my new ‘family’ because we could confident in one another about our problems.

After turning 15, I joined a new gang. That was when my real problems began. A friend introduced me to drugs - I was fascinated by what he told me about its effects. The first drug I took was a pill called Upjohn. I remember taking about three pills and being totally knocked out.

I didn’t remember a single thing I did the whole night until I suddenly ‘woke up’ in the morning, and found myself in Bugis. My friend said that I did a lot of stupid things and even fell into a bus. That explained the bruises I found on my right hip. Soon, I started on Ectassy. At that time, it cost 45$ to 50$. As a secondary student, I didn’t have that kind of money to spare so I just shared a pill with a friend.

We wanted to follow the older crowd and looked cool by taking drugs. Yet, after every high, I get depressed and had no drive in life. I was a football player but my stamina deteriorated. Even climbing a flight of stairs let me breathless.

One day, 30 of my gang members distributed knives among ourselves and to Orchard Road to beat up a rival gang. While fighting, we heard sirens and fled in all directions. On the road, a police car pulled up in front of me and I saw my friend inside pointing me out as one of his gang members. I was crushed by the betrayal.

The police locked me up in a cell. Sitting there for 48 hours, all kinds of wild thoughts ran through my mind. I thought my life was over.

I was charged in juvenile court and sentenced to a boys’ home remand centre for one month. My mother and I were giving only 10 seconds to see each other. At first she looked angry. But when she touched my face, she broke down. The look in her eyes were so full of dissapointment, not really with me but with herself for not bringing me up well.We cried together.

After coming out of the boys’ home on a bail of $10,000, I was sentenced to 18 months of probation.I will always remember the look on my mother’s face and it’s made me determined not to go back to ganglife or drugs.

I don’t need to join a gang to be cool, like now it’s potrayed in the movies. In real life, gangsters get caught for their crimes and they go to jail for it. The worst that I could ever do is break the hearts of people who love me.
